The Rotting Trench

Bile-Born Marsh

The Rotting Trench is a drainage cut where battlefield runoff sits until it grows a skin. Three bile-born hunters work that cut as one hunt. They are not a warband. They are a food chain that learned to share.

The Blight Spitter opens from range with Bile Lob, poisoning a front-liner and marking it with pale glow. The Mire Leech-Hound then charges anything already wounded or poisoned, using Blood Scent and Pack Tactics to latch on. The Rot-Hulk Stalker wades in last. Stench of Rot poisons anyone trying to pull the hound off, and Fetid Grasp holds a Medium target while 10-foot claws finish the job.

Poison is the pack's shared tool. A poisoned target takes extra necrotic damage from the stalker's claws, feeds the hound's Blood Scent, and cannot hide from the spitter's glowing bile. Rescue attempts land inside the stalker's stench.

Example encounter

Place the spitter on a raised pipe 40 feet back. Put two leech-hounds in the water at the party's feet. The stalker climbs the trench wall and drops behind whoever tries to reach the spitter.

The Rotting Trench print and play 5e monster pack. A4 printable with three fold-and-stand bile-born hunters, tokens, and lore strip.
