The Drowned Phantoms
Flooded Hold
Three undead share a flooded hold: black water, broken ribs of timber, and a drop into colder current. The Abyssal Tide-Wraith hangs in that water as a tall cobalt shape whose lower body runs to foam. It claws twice, and when its chest opens it forces water into a throat (DC 14 Constitution). Out of water it fights at disadvantage.
The Grave Current Skulker is smaller, hunched, and hard to pick out in silt. Submerged, it hides as a bonus action. A Chilling Touch that already has advantage drops the target's walk and swim speeds to 0 until the end of its next turn.
The Tidal Drowner is the weight. Anchor chain is through its flesh. It slams, then grapples (escape DC 13) and swims at full speed while dragging a creature down. Together they pin a swimmer, haul it deep, and finish the drowning.
Example encounter
1. Place the Skulker in murky water, the Drowner on a wreck stair, and the Tide-Wraith in the deep end. 2. On the Skulker's turn, hide if submerged, then Chilling Touch with advantage to drop speeds to 0. 3. Move the Drowner into melee and use Drag Below (escape DC 13); swim at full speed while grappling. 4. The Tide-Wraith uses Drown the Lungs (DC 14 Constitution) on the grappled swimmer, then Spectral Claw.
