Frostfang Glade
Glacial Shelf
The Behemoth holds the valley floor, the Prowler slides the glaze, and the Bouncer vaults the crevasse.
Frostfang Glade occupies an icebound valley where hanging glaciers groan above deep crevasses. Freezing fog rolls off the ice shelf, coating rock ridges in slick hoarfrost. Wind whistles through blue seracs, masking the footfalls of heavy beasts hunting the scree.
Three predators guard the shelf crossing. The White-Mane Behemoth holds the valley floor, shaking its heavy ruff and lowering massive frost horns. In the shadow of blue ice walls, the Glaze Prowler belly-slides across slick glaze, waiting for climbers to slip. Above the trail, the Hoarfrost Bouncer vaults between crevasses, dislodging ice slabs onto anyone attempting to cross.
The beasts hunt by crushing footing and denying escape from the glacial shelf. When travelers enter the glade, the Hoarfrost Bouncer leaps across the trail to split the ranks and trample front-line fighters. The Glaze Prowler stalks through frozen fog, pouncing from slick ice to slice hamstrings.
When quarry clusters against the valley wall, the White-Mane Behemoth charges. Its thunderous impact shatters ice shelves, knocking travelers into crevasses. The pack does not chase prey into deep forest. They guard the high shelf and let cold winds exhaust their prey.
Example encounter
1. Put the Hoarfrost Bouncer above the trail, the Glaze Prowler on the glaze, and the White-Mane Behemoth on the valley floor.
2. On the Bouncer's first spotlight, use Crevasse Vault to move from Far into Melee and attack with Ram Plate.
3. Force an Agility Reaction Roll (15). On a failure the target is knocked prone and Vulnerable until they stand.
4. Spotlight the Glaze Prowler against that Vulnerable target and use Rending Swipe for advantage and +1d8 physical.
5. If the Prowler started Hidden, Tendon Slash also marks 1 Stress and leaves them Vulnerable until their next turn ends.
6. When climbers cluster against the valley wall, spend a Fear on Glacier Slam. Close-range targets make an Agility Reaction Roll (15) or take 3d8+2 physical and knock back to Far.
7. If an ally marks HP within Far of the Behemoth, spend a Fear on Avalanche Roar to charge into Melee with the attacker and attack immediately.
