Cloudspire Crags
Upper Roost
The Great-Stag rules the upper plateau, the Skulker stalks chimney cracks, and the Strider sprints the razor trail.
Cloudspire Crags rise five thousand paces above the cloud shelf where frost winds scour bare granite. Deep fissures split the high peaks, dropping into lightless chimney drops. High-altitude moss and stunted scrub cling to cold stone in pale patches.
Three distinct hunters share the high ridges. The Cloudspire Great-Stag rules the upper plateau on heavy hooves, crowned with sweeping horn tines. In the narrow fissures below, the Crevice Skulker folds feathered wings and stalks the chimney shadows. Along the razor trails, the Spurrear Strider sprints on banded bipedal legs, scanning the pass with keen golden eyes.
The pack hunts by scattering parties and driving individuals toward sheer drop-offs. When travelers cross the upper pass, the Spurrear Strider strikes first, using running leaps to split the vanguard. The Crevice Skulker drops silently from overhead cracks, raking exposed archers with needle-sharp talons.
When a fight stalls, the Cloudspire Great-Stag descends from the high ridge. It lowers its massive antler crown to shatter formations, driving invaders toward the cliff edge. The beasts do not linger in prolonged duels. They isolate climbing lines, shatter anchor points, and herd prey into the abyss.
Example encounter
1. Put the Cloudspire Great-Stag on the high plateau, the Crevice Skulker inside an overhead chimney fissure, and the Spurrear Strider ten paces down the razor trail.
2. On the Strider's first spotlight, use Spur Charge to leap from Far range into Melee, attack with Serrated Spur-Kick, and force an Agility Reaction Roll (15) to knock prone and Vulnerable.
3. While a foe is Vulnerable, spotlight the Crevice Skulker from its chimney lurk to dive with advantage and deal bonus damage with Talon Tear.
4. When climbers attempt to form up, descend with the Cloudspire Great-Stag and spend a Fear on Trampling Bellow to knock targets back to Far range.
5. Sweep Melee with Crown Sweep to knock up to two foes prone and leave them Vulnerable.
6. If an ally in the pack takes damage within Far range, spend a Fear on Crag Sovereign to charge into Melee and strike immediately.
